Why additionally secure the sliding door on the Fiat Ducato?

The sliding door is a relevant access point on camper vans and panel vans: it offers a large opening and once open allows quick access to the interior. Especially for vehicles based on the Fiat Ducato as well as Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Opel Movano (from 2021) and Toyota Proace Max (from 2024), this can mean that items in the vehicle can be removed particularly quickly.

In practice there is also the risk that windows are levered open and the door is then opened via the sliding door handle. An additional, key-operated external lock on the sliding door provides sensible extra security because it makes opening the door significantly more difficult – even if the original mechanism is manipulated.

Operation

The lock is operated only with the key.
Unlock with the key and then turn 180°.
The key can be removed only in the open or closed position.
Tip: Always carry a key on you.

Installation & mounting recommendation

Installation is carried out by marking and drilling the mounting points; afterwards the lock is fixed with the supplied screws.

Mounting on the sliding door (e.g. Fiat Ducato / Boxer / Jumper / Movano / Proace Max)

Mount on the side wall next to the sliding door, recommended approx. 10 cm above the guide rail.
Before finally fastening, check whether the sliding door moves cleanly past the lock in the fully open position.

Mounting on wing / rear doors

For wing doors, mount the lock on the side of the door that can be locked from inside.

Important note about the sliding door

When opening the sliding door, make sure that the key is removed so the door does not damage the key.
